I spoke with Jeroen Plink, the CEO of North American operations for Practical Law Company and Ian Nelson, head of marketing and business development about their receipt of the College of Law Practice Management's InnovAction Honorable Mention award for PLC's work in creating efficiencies for business lawyers. The awards chair, Jordan Furlong, discusses the reasons for the recognition in this Law21 post.
Plink advised that PLC employs 120 attorneys globally, formerly of big firms and in-house legal departments, to provide "how-to" resources, including annotated forms, that help business lawyers practice more efficiently and provide added value to their clients. PLC began in the UK in 1990 and launched its US branch in the first quarter of 2009. We discussed the challenges of launching a business in this climate, the opportunities for improving efficiencies in the legal market and the future of the profession.
